Button on Homa's amateur days? Walker Cup ace
Monday, September 9, 2013
Max Homa’s last tournament round as an amateur was a match-play loss to Kevin Phelan 2 and 1, but it will be memorable as the Cal Bear made an ace on the short par-3 sixth hole.
The 52-degree wedge shot landed left of the 114-yard hole and spun back toward the cup and in.
“It was a three-quarter 52 degree and I absolutely flushed it,” Homa said afterwards. “It kind of got me reenergized. It was cool.
"Six aces, four in competition. It was pretty sweet and it was so loud.”
