Tee times: Tour Championship, Round 1
Wednesday, September 18, 2013
The Tour Championship tee times and pairings are set. Well, they were pretty much set on Monday afternoon when the final 30 players earned their spots at East Lake.
Here are a few pairings to watch out for, plus the full tee times:
• Hunter Mahan-Keegan Bradley: Both players are on the Presidents Cup squad and both players have had quiet, but highly successful seasons. Might learn a little something from each other here in case of a pairing at Muirfield in October, although Phil Mickelson might have something to say about anyone playing with Bradley other than himself.
• Justin Rose-Brandt Snedeker: The 2013 U.S. Open champ (Rose) and the defending FedEx Cup champ (Snedeker). Pretty sweet pairing. And Snedeker is the first FedEx Cup champ to actually return to the Tour Championship the following season.
• Matt Kuchar-Steve Stricker: Will there be a contest for the nicest guy in this pairing. One rarely stops smiling (Kuchar) and the other is likely one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Both have competitive fire, however, and this pairing could provide this week's winner.
• Tiger Woods-Henrik Stenson: Tiger enters the Tour Championship as No. 1 in the FedEx Cup standings. He's the only one of the final four players off the tee that hasn't won a playoff event. Stenson plays with Tiger for the second consecutive week, with last week at the BMW a forgettable experience.
