Saturday, August 30, 2014
The Georgia Bulldogs fended off TCU to remain in first through two rounds at The Carmel Cup at the Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links.
The Bulldogs, at 10 under with one round remaining, shot a 2-under 358 Saturday and have two golfers in the top 10 with Lee McCoy (T-4) and Mookie DeMoss (T-9). But it was the TCU Horned Frogs that had the round of the day. TCU shot a 10-under 350, the low round of the tournament thus far, moving into a tie for second with Texas Tech at 9 under.
South Carolina sits in fourth, four strokes back at 6 under, and Vanderbilt is in fifth at 3 under. The remainder of the field is even or above par, with Arkansas (even), Oklahoma (2 over) and Oklahoma State (15 over) rounding out the list.
Vanderbilt's Hunter Stewart leads the individual leaderboard after firing a second round 70. He sits at 7 under, two strokes ahead of Texas Tech's Clement Sordet and South Carolina's Caleb Sturgeon. Sturgeon shot the low round of the day with a 66, moving up 21 spots on the leaderboard.
The tournament ends tomorrow after a final 18 holes.
