Hossler, Murray tied for Southern Am lead

Beau Hossler and Grayson Murray are tied for the lead at the halfway point of the Southern Amateur at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Hossler, a rising sophomore at Texas, shot a second-round, 4-under 68 on the 7,155-yard course to tie Murray at 6-under 138. He made eight birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in his second round.
Murray followed up his first-round 66 with a 2-over 72 on Thursday. The Raleigh, N.C., native has transferred to Arizona State and will being playing for the Sun Devils in January of 2015.
Will Starke of Chapin, S.C., sits in third place, one shot back at 5 under after rounds of 70-69.
Other notables that made the 77-player cut, which was at 7 over, are Robby Shelton, college golf’s freshman of the year from Alabama, after rounds of 71-72; North Florida’s M.J. Maguire sits in tie for sixth at 3 under with rounds of 69-72; while defending champion and rising Oklahoma State sophomore Zachary Olsen made the cut on the number.
