Introducing the Golfweek Southeast Junior Invite
Wednesday, June 11, 2014
Golfweek’s Junior Invitational series has expanded to five events with the creation of the Golfweek Southeast Junior Invitational. And this one has a twist.
The Southeast Junior Invitational will be played in Myrtle Beach, S.C. the day before the first event in Golfweek’s nine-tournament Collegiate Series, the Golfweek Program Challenge. Twenty-four college teams will assemble down the road at Caledonia GC (women) and True Blue GC (men) while junior golfers will play at Willbrook Plantation in Pawley's Island, S.C.
In hosting these two events back-to-back and at nearby venues, our goal is to provide college coaches with a team in the Program Challenge the opportunity to watch the Southeast Junior. As the Program Challenge kicks off the following day (Sunday Sept. 7), we invite Southeast Junior participants to watch teams compete down the road and get a taste of the college golf atmosphere.
The Southeast Junior Invitational is a one-day event consisting of two 18-hole rounds. Many college golf tournaments feature 36-hole days, which is a format that may take some getting used to. We figure now is a good time to start!
In a addition to a great weekend of golf, our staff will be on hand all weekend to answer questions – including Golfweek’s college golf expert Lance Ringler.
