PGA Tour golfer James Driscoll will pitch in to help Boston Marathon bombing victims by donating $1,000 for every birdie he makes at the RBC Heritage this week in Hilton Head Island, S.C., and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, he said in a social-media post Wednesday.

"I am donating 1k per birdie this week and next. All money going directly to #theonefundboston. #birdiesforboston" he posted on his Twitter account, @jdriscollpga, with a link to a PGATour.com page that further explains his effort and allows people to donate directly.

Driscoll, who hails from Boston, will donate proceeds to The One Fund Boston, launched by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino the day after the attacks.
