Hey everyone!

My name is Ashlan Ramsey and I’m a senior at John Milledge Academy in Milledgeville, Ga. I have played AJGA events for six years and have played in various junior events for eight years. I have been extremely blessed to have traveled the places I have and I am thankful everyday that I am able to play a game that I love. There are many people, especially my family and friends that have motivated and encouraged me to follow my dreams, and they all have played a huge role in helping me get to where I am today.

I first picked up a golf club at the age of six when my dad took me in our backyard (a driving range) and let me swing while he was practicing his own game. We moved to Augusta, Ga., a year later and decided I wanted to play tennis instead of golf. My mind was quickly changed when my sister, Taylor, came home with a bunch of golf trophies and I had yet to win one (a trophy) playing tennis. Whether I was playing 4-hole tournaments at our country club or playing U.S. Kids events, I was always competing with someone. I always wanted to play with the “big boys” at the club, and I would beg them to go play with me or even just have a putting contest. That competitive nature has stuck with me throughout my junior and amateur career.

In November of 2012, I signed my NLI to attend Clemson University this fall. I am looking forward to playing golf again with my sister and competing at the college level. This will be Clemson's first women's golf team in the schools history. I am excited to be part of something brand new and help Clemson University win National Championships.

I will be in Florida for the next four weeks playing in various women's amateur events and finishing up with the AJGA Annika Invitational before coming back home. I have spent a lot of time with my coach, Todd Anderson, this month and I really feel confident with my game right now. I am excited to have a chance to compete with some college players I have not seen in a while, too. It will be a great test for me and hopefully I will have some good news to report on in my next blog.

Happy New Year!
