Player diary: Brad Dalke (Part 4)
This past week was my spring break, so I went down to Shreveport, La., to hang out and play some golf with Sam Burns and a few of his buddies.
Sam is one of my best friends in junior golf and he is also one of the best junior golfers in the country. It's been fun getting to know him and his family better.
We had some really good matches at East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport. A few of the other junior golfers we played with were Nathan Jeansonne, who won the 2012 AJGA Junior All-Star at Jimmie Austin in Norman, Okla., Philip Barbaree, winner of the 2012 AJGA Junior All-Star Championship, and Carter Toms, son of PGA professional David Toms, also a very good junior golfer. There was some trash talking, but it was a blast!
Not only did we have matches on the course, but also on the basketball court. We went to a gym and had some 3-on-3 with me, Sam, and a few of the other golfers. We might not have played great, but we looked like ballers! We went to Academy before we played and bought headbands, knee pads and some shooting sleeves. All of us were about dead after playing three games going full-court!
I'm really glad I went down to Shreveport for my spring break. Meeting other kids my age, who have the same desire and passion to achieve the big goal of playing professional golf, along with building friendships is an important aspect of junior golf.
I want to thank the Burnses for taking me in again for a few days and putting up with me. That can be hard to do!
My next tournament is the Terra Cotta Amateur in Naples, Fla., the first week of April. It will be a fun tournament against some older guys. I'll get to test out my mental game again!
Until next time, and Boomer Sooner!
