As if we didn't already know his heart was healthy again, Canadian Eric Banks, who plays for the University of Florida, won a playoff to become one of three natives to Monday-qualify for this week's RBC Canadian Open on the PGA Tour.

Banks, of Nova Scotia, joins Peter Laws and Jesse Smith of Ontario in the field. Laws tied Andrew Georgiou of South Africa with a 64 at Heron Point Golf Links for the low score in qualifying, while Smith shot 65.

After shooting 66 along with Wes Homan and Jake Scott, Banks birdied the third hole of the playoff to claim the final spot in the field – bringing the total number of native countrymen in the Canadian Open to 19.

The Florida rising junior returned to the Gators lineup last season after heart surgery sidelined him more than a year ago. He returned for Florida's spring-season opener, the SunTrust Gator Invitational, and tied for 10th. He finished T-69 at the NCAA Division I Championships and ended the season 150th in the Golfweek/Sagarin men's collegiate individual rankings.
