Taylor Pendrith won the 74th annual Monroe Invitational on Saturday with a final-round 69.
Pendrith, a native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, was tied with fellow Canadian National Team member Garrett Rank at 10 under entering the day at Monroe Golf Club in Pittsfield, N.Y.
The 54-hole leaders were tied until Pendrith, a recent Kent State graduate, went eagle-birdie on Nos. 12 and 13 to get to 13 under for the tournament.
Pendrith bogeyed the par-3 16th and the par-4 18th coming in, but it was good enough for a two-shot cushion over another Canadian National Team member, Adam Svensson.
Svensson finished in second after a final-round 4-under 66. Rank and Auburn’s Daniel Stringfellow tied for third at 8-under 272.
This is Pendrith’s second major amateur title in less than a year. In 2013, he won Porter Cup less than 90 miles away at Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, N.Y.
