Jeff Klauk will miss the next four months because of a herniated disc in his lower back.
“It’s been painful and that’s made it tough to perform at the highest level with the best players in the world,” said Klauk, who had three top-4 finishes last year and was a finalist for Rookie of the Year. “I’ll take this time off to consult with doctors, do what needs to be done and look forward to getting back to playing the kind of golf I know I’m capable of playing.”
Klauk, 32, hopes to return in time for the Fall Series. He made only six cuts in 13 starts this season, but will receive a major medical extension, meaning he’ll have 16 events to attempt to finish inside the top 125 on the 2010 money list and retain his fully-exempt status.
Klauk had missed four of his last five cuts, and his best finish this season was a T-17 at the Puerto Rico Open in mid-March.
