ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – One hint that the British Open’s early second-round leader is something of a no-name was an issued press release titled, “11 things to know about Louis Ooosthuizen.”

Well, before we get to the list, here’s the first thing you need to know about him: There are only two o’s in his surname, not three as was mistakenly spelled in the release.

Among the 11 things to know from the sheet: The 27-year-old South African lives on a farm next to his parents, likes the Stormers rugby team, had to leave his 2010 Open de Andalucia trophy at the Malaga Airport because Monarch Airlines deemed it a “dangerous object” and shot 57 at Mossel Bay.

Also, this year he exchanged his Mercedes ML for a BMW X5 at the BMW Championship at Wentworth, drove it home to his Manchester residence and discovered it was too wide for his garage. So he had to trade it in.

Though he opened with 65-67, there’s a 12th thing to know about Louis Oosthuizen: He probably won’t be hoisting a Claret Jug on Sunday.

I’m thinking Louis the XXXVI won’t be Louis the LXXII.
