Washington claims home victory at Kikkor Invite

The Washington Huskies, No. 6 in Golfweek‘s preseason rankings, claimed their first team and individual title of the fall season Tuesday at their own Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational.

Washington finished the 54-hole event at Gold Mountain’s Olympic Course in Bremerton, Wash., nine strokes ahead of Texas A&M. Washington shot 2-under 862. St. Mary’s (Calif.) was third with a 17-over 881. UC Davis (882) finished fourth, and San Diego State (888) rounded out the top 5.

Washington sophomore Cheng-Tsung Pan claimed his second collegiate individual title with a three-round total of 5-under 211. The Huskies’ Chris Williams, a senior and the world’s top-ranked amateur, and junior Trevor Simsby finished at 1-under 215 to share second. Senior Charlie Hughes tied for 22nd at 223. Jonathan Sanders, who was playing in his first collegiate tournament, finished at 231 to tie for 49th.
