The Ladies European Tour has announced Golf Course St. Leon-Rot in Germany as the 2015 Solheim Cup venue. The course, located about an hour from Frankfurt, has previously hosted the European Tour’s Deutsche Bank SAP Open as well as premiere junior events such as the Allianz German Boys & Girls Open. The event will mark the first time the Solheim Cup has been played in Germany.
The LET also has announced Allianz as the Solheim Cup’s insurance partner and SAP as the global technology partner. They join existing sponsors Ping and Rolex.
“We are delighted to be taking the 2015 Solheim Cup to Germany and to Golf Club St. Leon-Rot, who have such a strong international reputation for both hosting major international tournaments, but also for developing the most talented juniors in Germany,” Alexandra Armas, Executive Director of the Ladies European Tour. “The Ladies European Tour looks forward to working with all parties involved in the project to make the event a great success including the Deutsche Golf Federation and welcoming global brands Allianz and SAP to the family of international partners which is a great endorsement of the profile of the event.”
St. Leon-Rot is a 36-hole facility, and also includes extensive practice facilities. The club is known as a developing ground for some of Germany’s top junior golfers.
“It will be a fantastic experience for our golf in Germany and its upcoming talents to witness the excitement of such a prestigious event like the Solheim Cup,” said Sandra Gal, a German player who was a member of the victorious European Solheim Cup team in 2011. “I am sure my home country will be a great host.”
The 2013 Solheim Cup will be played Aug. 13-18 at Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo.
