Justin Rose switches from Ashworth to Adidas Golf apparel and footwear

Twenty-four hours before the start of the U.S. Open at Oakmont, Adidas announced Justin Rose will wear Adidas Golf apparel and footwear going forward. Rose wore Adidas footwear and apparel before switching to Ashworth, which is owned by Adidas, in May, 2012.

“We are thrilled to bring another top-10 athlete into Adidas Golf apparel and further our investment in the game of golf,” said Jeff Lienhart, executive vice president of Adidas Golf, said in a release Wednesday. “Justin has a great eye for product, he’s a natural athlete and he will be a great ambassador for Adidas Golf and the exciting things we have planned for the future.”

On May 4, Adidas announced it plans to sell Ashworth, TaylorMade and Adams Golf and focus more on its apparel and athletic footwear business. By retaining Rose, Adidas keeps its association with a former U.S. Open winner, Ryder Cup player and potential Olympian with high visibility.

“I am happy to be returning to Adidas Golf,” Rose said in the statement. “It’s a very exciting time for the brand in golf and at the global level. I am looking forward to wearing Adidas both on and off the course.”
