Sun Mountain's Elite line of rain gear benefits from 37.5 technology

The key to Sun Mountain’s new rain gear line? It’s called 37.5 technology.

The Elite Jacket and Elite Pants, available in select golf shops and on sunmountain.com, feature the waterproof fabric technology that dries fast and has a two-year warranty. The company said that what it calls the “ultimate knit fabric” doesn’t sacrifice breathability or stretch.

“We are continually searching for technologies to improve the function of our outerwear,” said Mark Heydon, Sun Mountain’s vice president of outerwear. “The new Elite Rain Jacket and Pants are made with the ultimate fabric that has a waterproof rating as high as any rain jacket we’ve ever offered, while being extremely breathable and stretching like our RainFlex.”

Why the name 37.5 technology? It helps golfers maintain a core body temperature of 37.5° C and a relative humidity of 37.5 percent next to the skin, both ideal levels for comfort, according to Sun Mountain. It does this with fabric particles capturing and removing sweat vapor, and using body heat to accelerate that process.

The Elite Jacket, a full zip rain jacket that retails for $299.99, is made of a three-layer construction and offers four-way stretch. Other features include a two-way YKK waterproof zipper, adjustable cuffs and two hand-warmer pockets. Available colors: black, gray and navy.

The Elite Pants, which retail for $259.99, feature an Auto-Fit stretch waist with zipper fly and belt loops, two front pockets with zippered pass-through, a back pocket with Velcro closure and a snap system that can shorten the pants 2.5 inches. Additional features include protective fabric overlay on the inside ankle and deep lower leg zippers for easy on and off over shoes.
