Tiger Woods' odds to win 2017 Masters are plain crazy

By

Nobody can create excitement from a 15th-place finish in a 17-man field (in an unofficial event, no less) quite like Tiger Woods.

OK, so that’s not totally fair. Woods made 24 birdies (the most in the field) on the week at the Hero World Challenge and showed brilliant flashes of play in his long-awaited return to golf.

But still … the latest odds for Woods at a certain 2017 event in Augusta, Ga., are pretty astounding.

Jeff Sherman, the manager for Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, tweeted out the latest 2017 Masters odds for Westgate, and you won’t believe where Woods is.

That’s right, ahead of Henrik Stenson! You know, the Champion Golfer of the Year!

For context, it’s not like Woods’ odds were that low to begin with. His opening odds in August, before he’d even announced a return date, were 60/1. And they were 40/1 before the Hero World Challenge.

But now he’s ahead of a recent major champion, and behind only five players TOTAL after just one start back.

The odds books know what they’re doing, though. This is Tiger Woods, after all. People love to bet on the 14-time major champion, and you can’t underestimate him. So if Woods did somehow win his fifth Green Jacket in April and was given Cinderella odds, well the Vegas sports books would take a massive hit to say the least.

Whatever the case, you’ve been notified. If you want to pick Tiger Woods to win the 2017 Masters, the sports books are already ahead of you.
