The Nikon Coolshot 80i VR and Coolshot 80 VR laser rangefinders are designed to provide a quick way to obtain accurate yardages, and thanks to a technology borrowed from the company’s camera division, golfers now can do it more easily.

The VR stands for vibration reduction, and it is an optical system that makes it easy for golfers to hit their intended target. Nikon said vibrations associated with hand movements are reduced by 80 percent, so zapping a distant flag and getting an accurate reading should not take as long.

The Coolshot 80i VR and Coolshot 80 VR are waterproof, light and come with a 6x monocular that is easy to look through and read.

The difference between the two models: the Coolshot 80i VR has a slope-measuring feature that can compensate for inclines to provide a “playing distance.” The feature can be disabled for tournament play, so the Coolshot 80i VR can be USGA compliant for tournament play.

The Coolshot 80i VR costs $449.95, and the Coolshot 80 VR is $399.99.
