Rain washes out Round 2 play Friday afternoon at Genesis Open

By

Round two of the Genesis Open was suspended due to rain Friday afternoon at Riviera Country Club. Forecasts throughout the week showed poor weather was likely for the second round, though a handful of players were able to finish their rounds. Play will resume at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Jhonattan Vegas was not able to finish but did make the biggest move of the morning group, starting his round 3 under through 14 holes to catch co-leader Sam Saunders, who hadn’t teed off before play was suspended, at 7 under.

Jason Kokrak is one off the lead at 6 under having played 10 holes in 2 under Friday, while Cameron Percy, Jordan Spieth, Ben Crane, John Huh, Dustin Johnson and J.T. Poston sit T-4 at 5 under.

Looking to keep the momentum going from his Pebble Beach victory, Spieth had four birdies and one bogey through 16 holes Friday.
