5:45 p.m.: Yikes. Justin Rose just fell back into a tie for second with Rickie Fowler after his par putt at 17 lipped out, nearly doing a full 360-turn around the cup. That’s brutal with serious seeding implications for next week’s Tour Championship at stake here.
5:20 p.m.: Another birdie for Fowler at 15 and he’s now 17 under. Leishman also birdied 15, so he’s at 21 under now and three shots up on Justin Rose. Doesn’t look like Leishman wants to let this opportunity slip away.
5:10 p.m.: Birdie for Rickie Fowler at 14 gets him to 16 under and solo third for the time being. He’s still four shots off the lead and now two back of Justin Rose.
4:50 p.m.: Alright, we’ve got ourselves a golf tournament. Leishman now leads by just 2 shots after a bogey at 13 to drop to 20 under. Justin Rose has birdied three of his last four holes to get to 18 under and has a chance to pull this thing off with five holes to play.
4:30 p.m.: Justin Rose coming in hot! Birdie at 12 gets him to 17 under for the tournament and suddenly he’s alone in second. He’s 5-under through 12 today after shooting 5-under 66 in Round 3. Jason Day and Rickie Fowler now T-3 at 16 under. Leishman still top dog at 21 under.
4 p.m.: Jason Day is now alone in second after a birdie at 10. He’s at 17 under now and four off the lead. Marc Leishman still at 21 under. Rickie Fowler third at 16 under. Might be a battle for second place at this point.
3:30 p.m.: Back to a 5-shot lead for Leishman after a birdie at No. 8 to get to 21 under. Huge round from Tony Finau this afternoon, he shot 7-under 64 to move to T-5. Now looks like he’s gonna make next week’s Tour Championship after beginning the BMW Championship No. 39 in the FedEx Cup standings.
2:40 p.m.: Rickie Fowler is 2 under through 4 today and is now within four shots of leader Marc Leishman, who birdied No. 1 to move to 20 under for the tournament. We’ve seen bigger leads disappear in a hurry, so this thing is definitely not over yet.
2:30 p.m.: Kudos to Wesley Bryan, who went out as a single this morning and shot 2-under 69. Time of round: 1 hour, 29 minutes. A good reminder that 5-hour rounds don’t always have to be the norm.
