Next up: Southland

Men

Conference championship: April 23-25, Stonebridge Ranch CC, McKinney, Texas

Defending champion: McNeese State

Team rankings: Sam Houston State (68), McNeese State (101), Central Arkansas (141), Stephen F. Austin State (146), Abilene Christian (158), Houston Baptist (196), Lamar (205), Southeastern Louisiana (216), Incarnate Word (240), Nicholls State (254), New Orleans (261)

Midseason All-Conference team: Blake Elliott, McNeese State (67); Lewis George, Central Arkansas (121); William Holcomb, Sam Houston State (227); Noah Steele, Sam Houston State (317); Angelo Leyvani, Stephen F. Austin State (416)

What to expect: The last four champions of this conference have either been McNeese State or Sam Houston State. McNeese has captured the last two, but the three-peat will be a battle with Sam Houston State ranked more than 30 spots higher. Ultimately, the Bearkats are probably too good for the Cowboys to pull off three in a row.

Pick to win: Sam Houston State

Women

Conference championship: April 16-18, Woodforest GC, Montgomery, Texas

Defending champion: Houston Baptist

Team rankings: Lamar (124), Sam Houston State (126), Central Arkansas (128), Houston Baptist (151), Incarnate Word (204), Stephen F. Austin State (207), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (208), McNeese State (211)

Midseason All-Conference team: Hannah Alberto, Sam Houston State (172); Elodie Chapelet, Lamar (196); Emma Svensson, Central Arkansas (234); Fernanda Lira, Central Arkansas (269); Kaity Cummings, Houston Baptist (377)

What to expect: Lamar was denied a five-peat last year, as Houston Baptist took the crown. Well, the Cardinals are right back up to the top ranking in the conference. This could be a tight one with up to four teams fighting for the title, but Lamar should get its fifth conference crown in six years.

Pick to win: Lamar
